In today’s combat vehicles, it is ever more necessary to ensure
that military personnel are not exposed to unnecessary risk to
health. Gun smoke is, at the least, a discomfort to personnel in
confi ned spaces and may contain toxic elements that can
represent a health hazard.
Extraction of gun smoke is quickly achieved using customized
fans with high air fl ow characteristics. Airtechnology Group
has extensive experience in the design, development and
manufacture of compact fans suitable for this purpose and two
such fans are depicted in this publication. These fans have
been extensively used in the role and are proven, efficient,
reliable and revised as necessary over time to meet the latest
requirements.
AMETEK Airtechnology Group provides a range of specialist Motion products for Oil and Gas exploration applications.
Working in challenging high temperature/high pressure environments, these products provide support to critical

The Modular Air-Conditioning System (AC1592) is based on a range of components, combinations of which, will
allow development of vehicle air-conditioning systems from 4kW to 12kW cooling capacity, as illustrated.

The Airtechnology Group’s high-performance, mixed-flow engine cooling fans, coupled with rugged and efficient
aluminium heat exchanger packages, service military vehicle engines from 150 kW to 1,125 kW (200 hp to 1500 hp)
along with all the additional heat loads typically included within the remit of the engine cooling system.
Those may include transmission, transfer case and hydraulic oil, fuel cooling and pneumatic air
cooling.
Designed for high performance with low power consumption,
the MP4 mixed flow fans are manufactured in cast aluminium
alloy and have non-stall performance and non-overloading
power characteristics, together with low noise emission levels.
The backward inclined impeller blades are particularly suited
for use in dusty conditions in
that the blades remain clean, thus avoiding loss of efficiency.
With any fan application the geometry of the individual installation
can influence final performance; the details shown here
represent results achieved when tested to BS 848 conditions.
Of compact robust construction and manufactured to meet the
requirements of government defense equipment specifications,
these units are especially suitable for military vehicle
engine-cooling applications.
Depending on the complexity of the installation, mounting
methods can be adapted to suit individual requirements.

Mixed flow fans occupy a position part way between
axial and centrifugal designs. The pressure/volume
characteristic is very stable and particularly suited to
systems of variable resistance, such as those containing
filters or adjustable outlets. The aerodynamic geometry
also produces a low and broad based noise signature
without the need for additional attenuation.
The Avionics Cooling Blower Is A High-Capacity, High Velocity, Coaxial Fan Designed To Pull Cool Air Into And Through An Avionics Bay To Prevent The Electronics From Over-Heating.
Our proven Centrifugal Blower designs are perfect for higher pressure or low-volume applications compared to our axial type systems. AMETEK Airtechnology Group designs and manufactures a range of axial, centrifugal and mixed flow fans and blowers for various applications from avionic cooling to ventilation and sand scavenge. The mixed-flow fan designs with inherent resistance to stall are particularly suited to scavenge applications with high resistance to blade wear, a key advantage. Our mixed flow fan designs offer high static pressure development with improved noise characteristics and can contend with changing system resistance without stall.
